This unique project included demolition of existing main entrance and ramp under controlled conditions. Seismographs were utilized to measure vibrations during the demolition stage to maintain the integrity of delicate medical equipment in the immediate vicinity. Complete rebuild of new entrance complete with state-of-the-art revolving door, escalator, elevator and main lobby area. Retrofit basement laboratory areas which included structural modifications that involved careful planning, staging and execution within the operating hospital. Constructed two large court yards in the interior of the existing hospital complete with skylights. Reworked existing mechanical and electrical rooms to upgrade them to suit the hospital’s needs. Investigated existing infrastructure, separated, and rerouted them as a preamble to an anticipated major expansion at the hospital. This included construction of temporary locations for ICU beds, delivery rooms, prenatal and neonatal areas.
